Your fertility tracker's algorithm is only as good as the data you put into it.

cycle fertility period

Apps and devices for tracking our cycles are on the rise. And while I think a lot of them can be AMAZING tools to support our fertility, regardless of our goals, they still need US to tell THEM what is happening in our bodies. And it’s only AFTER we have told them what’s happening in our bodies, that their proprietary algorithm adjusts.

*I’m not trying to discourage anyone from using these technologies. I use them on a daily basis. But I don’t rely on the app to tell me when I get my period, how many days my cervical mucus lasts, when I ovulate, how long my luteal phase is, when my temp spikes are happening, etc.

There is so much value and power in being cycle-literate. You’re going to be able to catch changes to your cycle long before the algorithm catches up. And that could mean the difference between getting pregnant or not.
