You can't get pregnant without ovulating.
Another point of major confusion π sperm is crucial, but we still cannot make a baby without releasing an egg.
50% of a baby is made with sperm. The other 50% of a baby is made with an egg.
*It is not π possible π to make π a baby π without π either oneπ.
There’s so much confusion about this, so let’s go over some of the main points we covered this week:
π You can get a period without ovulating
π You can’t ovulate without a period (unless pregnancy occurs)
π You can get pregnant without a period (if you’ve ovulated)
π You can’t get pregnant without ovulating
Contrary to popular belief, ovulation is the star of our cycle, not our period.
*Ovulation typically occurs in the middle of our cycle. Estrogen spikes to trigger the release of luteinizing hormone (LH), which stimulates your ovaries to release an egg.
*The ruptured follicle is now called the Corpus Luteum, which releases progesterone to prepare your body for pregnancy. Progesterone is the most prominent hormone for 11-14 days after ovulation. This phase of your cycle is also known as the Luteal Phase.
*If your egg doesn’t get fertilized, your hormones eventually drop and your menstrual cycle starts all over again. Your Corpus Luteum will disintegrate and be passed out of the body along with the uterine lining during your period.
*Tracking your cycle is the first step to figuring out whether or not you’re ovulating.
