Why Do 20% of Women Have Anemia?

anemia fertility iron iron overload stress

In the U.S. today, 20% of women have iron-deficiency anemia compared to 2% of men.
▪️
Women in general are 3X better at absorbing iron than men. Plus, so many women are on the birth control pill, which contains iron.
▪️
Lack of iron isn’t the problem...so how is anemia possible?
▪️
For starters, we have to look at one big thing that sets women apart from men: their cycles. We have monthly cycles and as a result, we’re inherently more sensitive to STRESS.
▪️
Stressors can be anything - from not nourishing yourself right and overexercising to emotional and financial stress. This is not a weakness by any means, it just means we have to be more in tune with our bodies (and then it becomes our strength).
▪️
With the number of women taking the pill to suppress symptoms (60%), it's clear that we're not taking care of ourselves.
▪️
We’re also bombarded with iron in our food, supplements, medications and water.
▪️
This may be surprising, but both stress and excess iron can actually cause anemia. For more info, see my posts “Fear attracts iron” and “Anemia: fake news.
▪️
It’s VERY rare that a person diagnosed with iron-deficiency anemia is truly anemic. And the conventional way of treating anemia, which is giving the person iron pills, has actually been documented to make anemia worse.
▪️
What can women do? For starters:
👂Get more in tune with our bodies
🍊Nourish ourselves the right way
❌Get rid of unnecessary supplements
🗑️Part ways with medications that may not be serving us
✋Say no more often
❤️Protect your time and energy
