Vitamin A + Male Fertility
MUSINGS ON THE MALE BIRTH CONTROL PILL
Scientists are working on a new birth control pill for males. This pill works by blocking the Vitamin A receptor (retinoic acid receptor alpha aka RAR-a).
Vitamin A is required for sperm and testosterone production.
It’s well-known that even mild interference with the Vitamin A receptor creates fertility issues…and fully blocking the receptor creates infertility.
The claim is that Vitamin A status can be restored…but long-term Vitamin A deficiency has been shown to be potentially irreversible.
With sperm counts already decreasing, is this the best we can do?
Takeaway: be curious!
