There are SO many acronyms when it comes to fertility and preconception! To make life (and trying to conceive) a little bit easier, I’ve compiled a list of the most common ones.

EWCM: Egg White Cervical Mucus

FAM: Fertility Awareness Method

FMU: First Morning Urine

FSH: Follicle Stimulating Hormone

FP: Follicular Phase

GIFT: Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer

GS: Gestational Surrogate

hCG: Human Chorionic Gonadotropin

hMG: Human Menopausal Gonadotropin

HPT: Home Pregnancy Test

HSG: Hysterosalpingography

ICSI: Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection

IUI: Intrauterine Insemination

IVF: In-Vitro Fertilization

IVF-DE: IVF with Donor Eggs

LAP: Laparoscopy

Line Eyes: those good at confirming presence of lines on pregnancy test

LH: Luteinizing Hormone

LMP: Last Menstrual Period (first day)

LP: Luteal Phase

LPD: Luteal Phase Defect

LSC: Low Sperm Count

MC: Miscarriage

MS: Morning Sickness

MFI: Male Factor Infertility

NTNP: Not Trying, Not Preventing

O/OV: Ovulation

OHSS: Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome

OPK: Ovulation Predictor Kit

PCOS: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

PID: Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
