The Benefits of Aloe Vera Juice
When most people think of aloe vera, they think of the incredible relief it provides sunburns. But one of my favorite ways to use aloe vera is to...drink it!
Aloe vera juice is an incredibly mineral-rich liquid. And as you know from my previous posts, when it comes to hydration, minerals are queen.👑
Juice from aloe vera contains:
⟿940 mg of Potassium
⟿200 mg of Calcium
⟿60 mg of Magnesium
Aloe vera juice has many other amazing properties:
⟿Nutrients like the minerals above, as well as beta-carotene, Folate, Choline, and Vitamins Ⓒ, E and B12, almost all of which support the liver and detoxification.
⟿Contains enzymes that support digestion and help reduce inflammation in the digestive tract.
⟿Contains 12 anthraquinones, some of which are natural laxatives and others which act as antɪb@cterials and antɪvir@ls.
Drinking aloe vera juice can have some awesome benefits:
⟿Hydration in general
⟿Hydrated, clear skin (the Egyptians called Aloe “the plant of immortality”)
⟿Constipation relief
⟿Less heartburn
⟿Overall smoother bowel movements
Aloe vera juice comes from the aloe plant, which is actually a succulent. The juice is made from the flesh of the aloe vera plant leaves, purified into a liquid. It ends up being a pretty mild and smooth juice.
When drinking aloe vera juice, I generally stick to juice from the inner leaf v whole leaf. Whole leaf will contain higher levels of aloin, which is an anthraquinone that can cause digestive distress in some people. This plus the high potassium content can often be why some folks find themselves running to the bathroom when they drink it.💩
A very important note regarding pregnancy:
“Oral aloe is not recommended during pregnancy due to theoretical stimulation of uterine contractions, and in breastfeeding mothers, it may sometimes cause gastrointestinal distress in the nursing infant.” (Surjushe et al)
But to all my ladies trying to get their minerals up, drink up! My favorite brand is @lakewoodorganic
