How High-Fructose Corn Syrup Contributes to Iron Overload and a Low Metabolism

High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is one of the many silent villains lurking in our foods.
▪️
Not only is it poorly processed, making it mostly starch INSTEAD of fructose, it contributes to iron overload.
▪️
Almost all - if not all - of it is made from GMO corn. GMOs don’t have copper in them. Copper is what keeps iron in check.
▪️
🚧HFCS blocks essential copper proteins from working correctly in the body.

↗️HFCS causes iron accumulation in the tissue and organs, especially the liver, and can lead to things like fatty liver disease.
▪️
A PSA: just because HFCS causes iron overload, does not mean fructose does - they’re very different. Fructose from fruits can actually be amazing for our metabolism and overall health.
▪️
We live in a very complex world now, so nuances matter. Some food for thought.
