HOW I HEALED MY ASTHMA

balancing hormones digestion health

Disclaimer: Asthma is a very serious disease with very serious consequences if not managed correctly. What I share in this post is what I personally did to overcome my lifelong asthma. It is not a suggestion that anyone with asthma should stop taking their medications. And it is not a recommendation for what they should take instead. Always talk to your doctor about any changes to your healthcare routine.

*

Asthma is a complex disease with many potential causes and triggers. But it's not caused by a deficiency in asthma medication.

*

Most asthma medications contain corticosteroids,  which mimic the same actions of our own version of these hormones, called glucocorticoids. These actions include anti-inflammation and immune suppression.

*

If these man-made cortisol-like hormones are a crucial part of treating asthma, then we have to have a hard look at what's causing inflammation and immune overactivity. Everyone's triggers and causes will be different.

*

Getting to the root of mine, however, has allowed me to go medication-free. I was diagnosed with asthma when I was 8 years old. It was triggered by everything, including:

*

〜Cold weather

〜Exercise

〜Dust

〜Smoke

〜Seasonal allergies

〜True allergies

〜PMS

〜Stress & emotions

*

I was on a cocktail of asthma medications, including an AM/PM inhaler and an emergency inhaler for ~20 years. Here’s what I did to overcome it:

*

〜Removed allergens in my environment and food

〜Healed my gut

〜Re-regulated my HPA axis

〜Supported progesterone production

〜Replenished nutrients

〜Regulated with alternative herbs and supplements
