Do you know your fertile window?

True or False?: You can get pregnant on any day of your cycle.
*
That’s a big fat false. Women actually have a short time in which their bodies are fertile each cycle. This is called the fertile window. πŸͺŸ

Figuring out your fertile window can be a tool you utilize for both conception or contraception.
*
To put it into perspective:
*
πŸ“† We ovulate 1X per month. This is when the egg drops and it lives ~24 hours. (Brighten)
*
πŸ“ˆ Still, cervical mucus can keep sperm alive up to 5 days. (Hendrickson-Jack) This increases the fertility window.
*
🌺 The average fertile window is 5 days, but can range between 2-7 days. (Hendrickson-Jack)
*
As you can see, it’s just a few days that we can get pregnant each month. And the biggest key to this will be figuring out when ovulation occurs.
*
Ovulation won’t happen on the same day every cycle, especially for irregular cycles. This is why most fertility tracking apps can be a great tool, but shouldn’t get the final say as to when this happens.
*
This is why I’m a huge fan of cycle charting and the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM). Using 3 biomarkers, women can really get to know at what time of the month they’re fertile, and not.
