All About Ginger

Let’s talk about ginger!!!

Admittedly, I used to hate ginger growing up. But I’ve grown to LOVE it. And the more I learn about it, the more my love grows.

Ginger is a flowering plant originating from Southeast Asia. It’s been used for thousands of years, not only to flavor food but for medicinal purposes, including in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine.

Ginger contains beneficial compounds, including:

💛Gingerols (including 6-gingerol)

💛Shogaol

💛Beta-carotene

💛Capsaicin

💛Caffeic acid

💛Curcumɪn

💛Salicylate 

Studies have shown that ginger:

″Reduces morning sickness nausea

″Improves folliculogenesis (in rats)

″Increases implantation success (in rats)

″Is as effective as NSAIDs at reducing dysmenorrhea

It’s also been shown to help with:

″Anti-inflammation

″Rheumatoid arthritis

″Colon inflammation

″Allergies

″Anti-oxidation

″Combatting tumor growth

″Combatting certain bacteria + virus3s

″Digestion

″Blood sugar regulation

″Lowering cholesterol

″Motion sickness

″Anxiety

″Urinary tract health

Fresh ginger seems to provide the most benefits. I'll be showing you a few ways to use ginger in my recipe guide, which is launching soon. Stay tuned!

Most research concludes that ginger is generally safe for pregnancy. But other guidance states that there needs to be more research to confirm safety. As always, consult your doctor regarding safety during pregnancy, as well as for other potential contraindications.
