About Me

Hi! I’m Loren Sofía.

I've always had a passion for health and wellness, but what really got my started doing what I do was my personal experience with the birth control pill. After healing myself and regaining vibrant health, I knew I wanted to empower both women and men with the tools and knowledge to optimize their fertility and wellbeing, putting their best food forward as they step into a thriving pregnancy, a resilient postpartum, and joyful parenthood.

My methodology is rooted in deep understanding and respect for the physiology of the body, combining the wisdom of traditional nutrition with a bio-energetic, pro-metabolic, and bio-individual approach. Learn more about my journey and how I can help you on yours, below.

It all started with...

When I was in college in the Big Apple, I discovered the vegan diet and I dove in head first. I felt passionate about both the moral, environmental, and purposed health benefits of this diet, quickly swapping animal-based products for plant-based ones. I bought cookbooks, watched documentaries, went to vegan restaurants, and embodied the lifestyle that came with veganism.

Little by little, however, my health started to deteriorate. My athletic frame was whittling away. My menstrual cycle disappeared. My hair started thinning. I was extremely pale. I developed adult acne. I became irritable, anxious, and withdrawn. And soon, I found myself binge eating...and then binge exercising as punishment. And this evolved into a full blown vicious cycle that became my eating disorder.

I knew something had to give. I couldn't keep spinning my wheels. I was a shell of myself. So I decided to give my plant-based diet a break and slowly incorporate animal products back into my diet. And while it was a little uncomfortable at first, my body thanked me. I was no longer white as a sheet, my period came back, and my hair stopped falling out. But...my adult acne wouldn't let up.

This was in the early days of the internet, when blogs were just beginning and social media was limited to MySpace. So I turned to my friends and doctors about what I could do for my skin. And all roads led to the birth control pill. So I decided to try this too.

The pill seemed okay for a little while, minus the weight gain and the mood changes. But then, I developed candida. And then, pre-diabetes. And then, an autoimmune disease that created sores all over my body. I developed melasma. I was cold all the time. I was bloated, but also insatiably hungry at the same time. I had chronic cracks on the sides of my mouth. My nails were so soft they would bend at even the slightest pressure. My allergies and asthma were like never before. And to top it off, my acne started coming back.

After 8 years of thinking all of these symptoms were normal, I decided to come off the birth control pill. Of course, it didn't stop there.

No one had prepared me for what's called post-birth control syndrome, a term coined by Dr. Jolene Brighten. After coming off the pill, my body essentially went into a shock. Again, my hair started falling out. My acne came back tenfold. My cycle came back after 2 months, but for 2 weeks at a time. I wasn't ovulating.

So, I went back to my doctors. To my disappointment, neither my primary care physician, OBGYN, nor my dermatologist could offer me any solutions other than getting back on hormonal contraceptives or taking a different kind of hormone-altering pill. And I said, no. No to spinning my wheels again. No to feeling so sick again. No to the things that made me ill. I decided to reclaim my health — and I knew I had to do it myself. I didn't want to jump on another hamster wheel.

The next few months were spent pouring into any and all research I could find about the issues I was experiencing. I started making changes to my diet and my lifestyle. And things started to look up. My hair started growing back. My acne started clearing up. My cycle started normalizing. And my asthma — which I had been taking a variety of medications for since I was little — started getting better too.

Since then, I haven't looked back. I've seen what the innate wisdom of the body can do. It's been there all along, I just needed the right tools. And now this is my mission, to help you seize the innate intelligence of your body with the right tools and guidance.

You may not see it yet, but your body already has everything it needs to heal. You have abundant fertility within you. I'm here to help you unlock it.

This way of thinking about the body has been the guiding force, helping those that I work with heal everything from gallbladder attacks and chronic fatigue, to unexplained infertility to endometriosis. I have helped thousands of women meet the babies they've been dreaming of. They healed, and you can too.
